With cold weather comes Washingtonian’s favorite time of year – the Apple Cup! Since this may be the last year for the beloved 122-year-old tradition, we wanted to send it off in style with a different kind of Husky vs Cougar competition – this time over cocktails at Whiskey by John Howie with former players Damon Huard and Michael Bumpus.
Join fellow fans (or rivals) on November 14 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. as Huard and Bumpusbattle for supremacy in fund raising! – a rivalry trumped only by that of their alma maters. These retired football players have stopped throwing and catching footballs – but no one said anything about throwing jabs! Throughout the night, guests will have the opportunity to order drinks (recipes below) from their favorite team and join in on the ribbing – let’s keep it sportsmanlike! Whichever player raises the most money wins bragging rights, and a portion of all proceeds made will go to the charity of each player’s choice.
We’re hopeful that a rousing night of jovial jabs and craft cocktails will help you crack a smile (if not from the jabs, then from the cocktails for sure) and we can send off the rivalry of the ages together.
